Finished Objects
Columns
Pattern: Collection of Columns Volume 2 by Nancy Wheeler
Yarn: West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 ply - Rum Paradise
Yarn used: 55g
Such a fun concept for a sock pattern. Nancy provides the basic sock pattern and adds in a number of different options for columns of stitches that run down the leg and foot. The knitter decides where to place the columns - I’ve chosen to put the double eyelet pattern down either side of the leg front (they would also have run down the foot but I forgot to restart the pattern when I finished my heel).
I cast on the medium size (64 stitches) and reduced to 60 stitches for the foot as I prefer a snugger fit on my feet than the standard 64 stitch sock gives.
The yarn is fun and bright - will cheer up my feet in the depths of winter for sure!
Le Bandana
Pattern: Le Bandana by Aimee Gille
Yarn: Drops Alpaca - colours 36 (dark brown) and 40 (copper)
Another Le Bandana off the needles and this could be my favourite yet. I used two colours of Drops Alpaca and striped every two rows. The scarf is knit tip to tip and I wanted a generous sized scarf so knit slightly longer than the pattern suggests - I got to 86 stitches in the middle before starting the decreases. I'm thrilled with the finished scarf and I know this will get a lot of wear in the colder months.

Evendoon
Pattern: Evendoon Cardigan by Kate Davies
Yarn: WoolyKnit cone of British Wool - colourway Mallard
Size knit: 5
Only a little progress since the last post but instead of the Evendoon being my main garment project over the summer it's taken a back seat to a more seasonally appropriate project (see below).
The sleeves are now on try on cords and I'm on to the straight stockinette knitting of the body.
The yarn is great to work with and creates a beautiful, interesting fabric. It's more toothy than merino yarn but worn as an outer layer over a shirt or a t-shirt it will be fine and I imagine the cardigan is going to keep me nice and warm.
I’ll enjoy getting back to the relaxing to and fro of the stockinette, once my new garment (the Space Tank) project is finished.
Space Tank
Pattern: Space Tank by Heidi Kirrmaier
Yarn: King Cole Linendale colour 5245 (Midnight)
Size knit: L
Nube
Pattern: Nube by Claudia Quintallina
Yarn: Isager Alpaca 1 colour 47
This is a pretty lace weight scarf - one of those jauntily-tied-at-the-neck scarves - and a simple project, perfect for summer knitting. It's essentially a stockinette square finished with a crochet edging.
The pattern calls for a silk mohair yarn, however I went stash shopping and chose to use a lace weight alpaca. As this won’t bloom like a silk mohair does I’ve gone down a few needle sizes and I’m happy with the fabric that’s being created.
Short socks

Yarn: Loom Wool Monthly Mini Club July 2025
I have been collecting the Loom Wool monthly minis for about 18 months, and have a year’s worth as yet unused. I need to do something about this because they’re too beautiful to be kept in a box. And so I’ve taken the oldest box and cast on a pair of short socks, taking inspiration from a pair of socks I’ve seen on Instagram created by @laurelknits.
They are a simple striped sock, but instead of using a contrast colour for the heel flap, the heel flap is created half way through one of the colour blocks. Not earth shatteringly different to other socks, but I thought they looked nice using the colour blocking in this way and so that’s what I’m doing with my heels too.
