Helpful information
I've pulled together all the information that will be helpful to you when looking to buy from Eldenwood Craft. If the information you are looking for is not here, please get in touch and I will help to answer your question.
Project bagsAll project bags and notions pouches are handmade by me in my Somerset studio. This means that I cut out every piece of fabric, interface the fabrics, sew, iron, and add the drawstrings and so every item sold at Eldenwood Craft will be unique and so size may vary just a little. The exact pattern / pattern placement may also be different due to each bag being cut out by hand from a large scale print - where this is the case the product listing will also show a wider view of the fabric.
I sell a variety of different sized bags. You will see a description of the types of project that each bag size is good for on the homepage for each bag collection. My standard bag sizes are:
- Everyday - good for up to two skein projects such as socks, hats and small shawls or baby garments
- Midi - good for up to five skein projects such as large shawls, small garments
- XL - good for 10 skein plus projects such as blankets, big sweaters etc.
From my standard bag collections, the Everyday project bags do not have pockets, however the Midi and XL bags both have lots of useful pockets inside.
In the main I use heavier weight home decor and canvas fabrics to make my project bags which tend to have greater longevity than traditional quilting weight cottons which are often used in project bags. I personally also like the texture of these fabrics. Due to the nature of some of the fabrics I use, they may be a little stiff on first use but the more you use them, the more they will wear and soften.
Project bag listings will be for ready to ship items (and / or made to order items when made to order is available). Where an order is placed for a made to order item these will be made from scratch by Emma strictly in the order of orders being placed. Each item that has a made to order option will list the estimated maximum time for dispatching the order.
Shop updates
I've put together a page to give you some helpful pointers to navigating a shop update - you can read it here.
Care for project bagsI recommend spot cleaning your project bags when necessary and air / line dry rather than tumble drying. The fabrics are not pre-washed and therefore some shrinkage may occur if they are machine washed.
Some bags may have been folded for their journey to you, and may also have had a long journey and therefore a gentle iron will help to restore them to their best.
Product photosI have tried to ensure that product photos represent a true likeness of the products but please be aware that monitors can display colours differently compared to real life. Please also note that any props shown in product photos are not for sale.
PackagingI think carefully about my packaging to ensure it is as eco friendly as possible, while also protecting your order as it makes its way to you. I use brown paper to wrap your project bags and yarn orders, with a sticker or paper tape to seal the package. Mailing envelopes are either Kraft paper mailers, or compostable / recyclable / recycled mailers, or cardboard boxes for larger orders. I use paper tape where needed rather than plastic tape. If bubble wrap is used to protect delicate items this is pre-loved bubble wrap from deliveries that I have received and have saved from going to landfill. Please consider whether you are able to reuse any of the packaging you receive from me before disposing of it.
Shipping policyI ship both domestically and also internationally to many countries. If your country is not listed at checkout and you would like to make a purchase please contact me for further information.
I use the Royal Mail tracked postal service and the final postage cost is calculated at checkout based on the size / weight of the parcel. All parcels are fully insured. A tracking number is provided once your parcel has been posted. The following gives an indication of estimated delivery times and range of postal charges.
Domestic
A flat rate of £3 is charged for domestic parcels. The Tracked 48 service is used (tracked to delivery point) and Royal Mail aim to deliver within 2-3 days.
Europe
Charges will usually be between £10 and £23 (dependent on size and weight of parcel). The Tracked service is used (tracked to delivery point) and Royal Mail state that the delivery aim is within one week.
Rest of World
Charges will usually be between £10 and £28 (dependent on size and weight of parcel). The Tracked service is used (tracked to delivery point) and Royal Mail state that the delivery aim is within one week.
Delivery times quoted above are based on the Royal Mail estimated delivery times and actual delivery times may vary. International parcels can be subject to longer delays due customs clearances etc. Please allow up to 45 business days for international delivery. If your parcel has not arrived within this time frame please contact me and I will help to resolve the issue.
Please also note that there may be delays due to unexpected events such as global pandemics, strikes, cyber incidents and at busy times such as Christmas.
Please ensure you provide accurate delivery details when placing your order. Any failure to deliver your order due to inaccurate information provided will be the responsibility of the buyer and the order will not be refundable.
Customs and other charges such as VAT
The buyer is responsible for meeting all customs charges and any other taxes charged by individual countries.
This includes orders to the EU. From 1st July 2021 EU customers may experience additional charges (import duties, VAT and handling charges) when placing orders from the UK. Individual countries set their own rates and therefore you should be aware of your own country's rates at the time of placing your order. At the current time there is no workable solution that allows for small businesses to collect these charges ourselves. Therefore these charges are the responsibility of the customer.
If a parcel is returned to Eldenwood Craft uncollected I will refund the value of the goods, less any costs incurred as a result of the parcel being sent and returned.
Once a workable solution to this becomes available I will implement changes.
Eldenwood Craft is not currently VAT registered.
Made to order
Where your order contains a combination of ready to ship and made to order items, your order will be shipped once the last made to order item is complete. If you require your ready to ship items sooner please contact me quoting your order number and I can arrange for an invoice to be sent to cover the extra shipping costs.
Returns policyIt's really important to me that you are happy with your order. If you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, please contact me within 7 days of receiving your order and I will work with you to resolve your concerns. In the event that we agree that your order should be returned to Eldenwood Craft, your product must be unused and in its original condition. Unless an error was made with your order, it is the buyer's responsibility to cover the cost of return postage. The items remain the responsibility of the buyer until they reach me and I therefore strongly advise that you obtain proof of postage. I am not responsible for any returned items going missing in transit.
Sale items are non returnable, all sales on discounted items are final.
Custom made items are not refundable unless they are faulty in which case the above terms apply.
Refunds will be provided less the cost of postage incurred.
Special orders and reservationsI run Eldenwood Craft single handedly and therefore I do not mass produce any products. This is indeed one of the joys of buying from a small business. I am aware however that this can mean that some of my products sell out quickly leaving customers unable to purchase an item they had hoped to buy. I will have options to buy made to order bags where current workload allows. A banner at the top of the website will show the estimated time from placing an order to shipping. Please note that this is however an estimate and you may find that the actual lead time may be longer dependent on workload.
I am afraid that I cannot reserve bags for you ahead of shop updates.
Wholesale ordersI would love to speak to you if you are interested in stocking my bags in your bricks and mortar shop. Please be aware though that I run Eldenwood Craft as a sole trader and therefore I may not always be able to accommodate large orders, or there may be a long lead time. But let's talk!
